Dr. Fred Moshary, Director of CESSRST-II and Professor of Electrical Engineering at the City College of New York received the Group Achievement Award as part of the Tropospheric Ozone Lidar Network (TOLNet) from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for development and implementation of the network of tropospheric Ozone Lidars.
TOLNet is a network of Ground-Based Ozone Lidar’s across the US that include NASA, NOAA, Environment Canada, City College of New York (CUNY), Hampton University and University of Alabama Huntsville. These instruments provide ozone measurements and other parameters such as planetary Boundary Layer from near the surface to the top of the troposphere.
TOLNet was established to provide high spatio-temporal observations of tropospheric ozone to (1) better understand physical processes driving the ozone budget in various meteorological and environmental conditions, and (2) validate the tropospheric ozone measurements of spaceborne missions
