EPP/MSI CESSRST Graduate Scholar, Stephany Garcia is featured on CBS Local News
NOAA EPP/MSI CESSRST-II Fellow, Stephany Garcia was recently featured on CBS8 Local News in San Diego for her NOAA mission aligned work on observations of turbidity in the Tijuana River Estuary with a sensor deployed a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) to test water clarity at the Tijuana River outlet in Imperial Beach. Stephany is currently pursuing her Masters of Science degree in Geography as a NOAA EPP/MSI CESSRST-II Fellow at San Diego State University (SDSU). Stephany noted that “this research could help us learn more about estuarine health and function and ideally be used by other estuarine monitoring agencies to help with restoration efforts”.
About the EPP/MSI Program: The EPP/MSI is an education and workforce training program whose goal is to provide financial support for the education, training, professional development, and graduation of students pursuing postsecondary degrees in NOAA mission STEM, policy and natural resources management disciplines. The EPP/MSI program has 3 components, an Undergraduate Scholarship Program, four Cooperative Science Centers and the Graduate Fellowship Program.
